URL encoder
Type or paste text and see it percent-encoded below, ready to go into a URL as a query value or a path segment: spaces become %20, and every character that means something in an address is encoded.
One value at a time
Encoding is meant for one value, such as a query parameter or a path segment, so / ? & = # and + are encoded too. Encode each value on its own, then join them with & and =.
Any character
Letters beyond ASCII, such as é or 日本, and emoji are written as their UTF-8 bytes (é becomes %C3%A9), which every server reads.
JSON in a parameter
Paste JSON to put it into a query parameter. It is encoded as written, so Minify it first for a shorter address.
Encoding a whole address?
To make a full address safe, encode only the values of its query parameters and keep the rest as it is. Encoding the whole address turns its :// and / into %3A%2F%2F and %2F, and it stops working as a link.
Private: nothing is uploaded
Formatting, checking and comparing all happen in your browser. Your documents are saved in the browser's own storage on this computer, not on a server, so they never leave your device.
With your permission, we count anonymous visits (which pages and tools are used), never what you type. See Privacy.
Questions
Is a space %20 or +?
Encode writes %20, which means a space everywhere in a URL. A + means a space only in query strings and forms.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
Your documents aren't: everything runs in your browser, and they are saved on your computer, in the browser's storage for this site. With your permission we count anonymous visits, never their content.
