CSV to JSON converter

Paste CSV or TSV (separated by commas, semicolons, tabs or pipes) and see it as JSON below: each row becomes an object named by the header row.

The header row names the keys

Each row after the first becomes an object whose keys are the header row's fields, in their order.

Numbers and booleans

Fields that are numbers (42, 3.14) or true and false become JSON numbers and booleans. Everything else stays text, and an empty field becomes an empty string.

Any separator

Commas, semicolons (common in European exports), tabs (TSV) and pipes are detected; quoted fields may hold separators and line breaks.

Straight from a spreadsheet

Copy cells from Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice and paste them: they arrive separated by tabs, which is read like any CSV, with the first row as the keys.

Copy, download or keep editing

The JSON follows your typing, and a mistake in what you paste is pointed out first, with its line and column. Copy or Download take the JSON as it is; Use as text puts it in the editor in place of what you pasted (Ctrl+Z goes back).

Private: nothing is uploaded

Formatting, checking and comparing all happen in your browser. Your documents are saved in the browser's own storage on this computer, not on a server, so they never leave your device.

How do I convert CSV to JSON?

What if my CSV has no header row?

The first row is always read as the header. Add a line of column names at the top if your file has none.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

Your documents aren't: everything runs in your browser, and they are saved on your computer, in the browser's storage for this site. With your permission we count anonymous visits, never their content.
