Mind map maker

Make a mind map as fast as you can think: pick a topic and press Tab for a subtopic or Enter for the next one, then type. The map lays itself out, with branches to both sides in their own colours. It opens with a product launch plan to change into your own.

On the canvas

Click a topic to pick it, then:

  • Tab adds a subtopic, Enter adds a topic after it, and you type its name straight away
  • Type, press F2 or double-click to rename a topic
  • Delete removes a topic with everything under it
  • The arrow keys go from topic to topic
  • Drag a topic onto another to move it there, with its subtopics

As an outline

Double-click the space around the topics to edit the whole map as text, beside a live preview: one topic per line, indented under its topic. It is the quickest way to put in a list you already have, and what you change on the canvas shows up in the outline too.

Mermaid's mindmap syntax works as well, so a map from Markdown documentation can be pasted in: "root((Launch))" draws a circle, "[Goals]" a square, "{{Risks}}" a hexagon.

Next to other shapes

A mind map is one shape on the canvas: move it, resize it, and add notes, cards and arrows around it. Several maps can share a diagram.

Questions

Can I move a branch to the other side?

The map balances its branches between the two sides by itself, and keeps them where they are while you add subtopics. The first main topics in the outline go right and the rest left, so change their order there to move one across; dragging a main topic onto the root puts it last.

Can I export it?

Yes: as PNG or SVG for slides and documents, or as a .diag file to open and edit again later. The outline can be copied from the text editor too.

Where is my mind map saved?

In your browser, with your other diagrams; nothing is uploaded. Share it as a link to show someone else.
