Compare TOML files

Put two TOML files side by side, such as a Cargo.toml before and after a dependency update, two pyproject.toml files, or the same config from two environments, and see what changed, line by line and word by word.

Same layout on both sides

Format both sides to tidy the spacing, inline tables and arrays the same way, so spacing alone is never reported as a change. The structure is kept as written: a table written as [server] on one side and as server.port = 8080 on the other still shows as a difference.

Key order

Turn on Sort keys before formatting to order the keys of every table alphabetically (tables keep their order), so keys that merely moved do not show up as changes.

Dependency updates at a glance

Comparing two Cargo.toml or pyproject.toml files shows exactly which versions moved: the changed numbers are highlighted inside each line.

Find each change

Changed lines and words are highlighted, long unchanged stretches are folded, and the arrows jump from one change to the next. Both sides stay editable as the highlights follow, and Swap exchanges them.

Questions

How do I compare two TOML files?

Paste or open one on each side, or drop each file on its side, then Format both, with Sort keys on if the key order may differ.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

Your documents aren't: everything runs in your browser, and they are saved on your computer, in the browser's storage for this site. With your permission we count anonymous visits, never their content.
