CSV viewer
Open or paste a CSV or TSV file and read it as a table: the header row on top, numbered rows and every column, as you type. In the editor above, each column has a colour of its own, and Align columns lines them up.
A table to read
The table below the editor shows every column, with the header row on top and the rows numbered, and it follows your edits. A long file shows its first 1,000 rows; Copy and Download always take all of them.
Columns in colour
Each column of the text gets its own colour, eight in turn, and the separators are muted, so you can follow a column down the file even when rows are long.
Lined up, text unchanged
Align columns adds space on screen so the columns line up, like a spreadsheet. The text itself does not change: copying, saving or converting it gives the CSV exactly as it was.
Into a spreadsheet
Copy above the table gives its rows separated by tabs, which Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice paste into cells. Download saves the CSV.
Select and copy, like a spreadsheet
Click a cell and drag, or Shift+click, to select a block; click a header or a row number to select a whole column or row. Right-click the selection (or press and hold it on a phone) to choose how to copy it, or press Ctrl+C for tab-separated rows.
- One column becomes a comma-separated list: in double quotes ("a", "b"), in single quotes for an SQL IN (…) clause ('a', 'b'), or as they are (a, b)
- Several columns become a line per row, ('Ada', '25') rows for SQL VALUES, or tab-separated rows for a spreadsheet
- A header's copy button copies its whole column as a list in one click
Whole columns take every row, even beyond the first 1,000 shown, and empty fields are left out of lists.
Checked as you go
Commas, semicolons, tabs and pipes are detected, and a row with the wrong number of fields, or a quote left open, is pointed out with its line.

Questions
How do I open a CSV file without Excel?
Open it here, or drop it on the editor: it shows as a table in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
Can I view JSON as a table too?
Yes: a JSON list of objects shows as a table with a column for every key. Choose Table in the Convert menu above any JSON, YAML or XML.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
Your documents aren't: everything runs in your browser, and they are saved on your computer, in the browser's storage for this site. With your permission we count anonymous visits, never their content.
